PM instead of K9 and Maildroid is exactly what I was looking for: fast
synchronize accounts.!!!!!!!

In my opinion missing in this version:
1) Ability to have different timing periods of syncro for each account.
2) Filter for Synchronization silent night (like on Maildroid)
3) slightly larger keys
4) The program crashes on touch key of contacts

For the rest really compliments. The best seen so far !!!!

1) Ability to have different timing periods of syncro f account

2) Filter for Synchronization silent night (like on Maildroid)

Go into the settings and look for "work times". Profimail has done what you are asking for years.

No.
1) For example: Account "A" syncro every 30 minutes. Account "B" syncro every 180 minutes. Account "C" syncro every 240 minutes.....
In this version syncro time is the same for every account.
2) I have seen "Work Time". But what i want is Silent Syncro during night time. It's different.

Another request: It's possible to have signature field longer than one line?

On mine, the sig can be as many lines as you want. I know it sounds daft but try writing the sig out how you want it in the email body, then copy it and paste it into the sig box.

Regarding the silent option, I see where you are coming from now. I doubt it is an issue for most people as most people won't need their email in their sleep.

Regarding the sync times, I agree that this isn't functioning properly yet, but LCG will fix it no doubt.

For silent syncro get a program like tasker, settings profiles or locale to turn off notifications at night.

OBug:
At night I turn off Gmail sync (for calendar and contacts) and data connection, but Profimail still shows that it's connected. When I turn on Gmail and data in the morning it stills shows connected, but isn't. I have do a manual sync to receive my new mails, and then it works as it should.

When I make a manual sync it often gets kind of stuck in the popup at connecting to my account, when I hit Back it connects to the first account, but not to the others. Maybe make an option to hide this status popup, it always gives me the impression that it takes ages to do anything.

Is it possible to add a autostart function after a reboot?

I'm using Profimail for some days now and I love the functionality it has, but it needs some improvements in speed and reliability.

Edit: switched back to gmail app, profimail is too unreliable at the moment.

In the latest version (24 September), there is still a problem with password: when you are in the process of entering a password it works OK to use backspace with the password, however when you come back to the password field you cannot use backspace. (Galaxy S using Swype)

Other than that, I have had 3 occasions when Profimail is closed down without error, but when I reopened it the account details were lost. When recreating the account the messages already downloaded are found again, so not sure what this is caused by.

First of all thank you for porting Profimail into Android It is by far the best email app available out there for any mobile device. As soon as PM BETA was released I deleted all other email apps I had on my phone.
A few things I have noticed with Android version of PM which would be good to correct. I have a HTC Desire running Android 2.2 with the latest Beta PM dated 2010-09-28

1) If PM is not running and there is no WI-FI or mobile data connection available and you try to open PM it quits straight away!

2) If PM is running and there is no WI-FI or mobile data connection available and I try to get in to one of my mailboxes, I first get ERROR, “Connection Closed by Server” message. When I ok that and try to go in to the mailbox I get another ERROR “Failed to connect (no address associated with host name Error 7)” , it will not open the mailbox, each time I try I get the same error7.

As I travel on the underground a lot, I like to be able to see and answer emails for later syncing when there is no connection to the internet.

3) If you have lost data connection at anytime, PM goes in to error mode and waits for user intervention. Connection errors should not need user intervention. It seems a lot more sensible to have a timed warning message pop up for a few seconds and then go away automatically so PM can carry on trying to sync on the next update.

4) On my phone I have enabled Audiable touch tone and Haptic feedback in the phone’s setup, these do not work while I am using PM.

The following I think is good to do to make PM even better.

5) Touch Scroll speed can be improved, it should feel the same scroll speed as the Android’s browser. Also the scroll bar on the right should be as thin as the Android’s browser.

6) There is no need for the MENU and BACK buttons on the screen, these are already on the phone.

7) Black / White / Grey screen colour theme would be nice.

8) On initial installation of PM, The installation first goes through the account setting. Before that you should be able to set Data Location, “SD CARD” or “PHONE MEMORY”.

At the moment on installation PM assumes the data is going on the phone memory, downloads the emails filling up the phone memory, before you are able to go into setup changing the data location.

9) Be able to set different notification sounds for different email accounts.

That’s all, Thanks again LCG for the best email app ever.

I have 3 accounts configured. But I had very strange issue. They´ve been deleted today without any particular reason. I entered PM and It asked me to if I want to create new account? Can you take a look at it please?

:!: Just a small bug this one. In contacts on the phone you can select a contact and click 'share' then you get the option of using Profimail to send a vcard. This crashed Profimail in the last version but this one lets you compose the email. However, the email doesn't have the default signature nor a vcard attached. It is getting better though. The android scroll bar with the button/ pad would be great if possible and also one last thing, when adding an address, I have no enter button on my slide it keyboard and it is a bit tricky to enter multiple accounts. Also still struggling a bit with the size of the attachment boxes and the menu too. Any way to make things fast finger friendly like the android OS?

Oh, sorry, one last thing but not a bug. Is there any way to make Profimail sync the Lotus Notes 'Sent' folder. It is really annoying not having this vital folder.

I am running on a Samsung Intercept.

I have an account configured for both Yahoo and Comcast. It was working mostly fine but today is getting weird.

:!: When I go to "update accounts" it retrieves ALL headers as new messages. Thus, right now it will show that I have 56 messages. When I go to open that account I get a screen that displays "Mailbox - Comcast" but no messages. If I repeat the "update accounts" process it will again retrieve ALL headers but this time I will be able to view them.

It always retrieves ALL headers but alternates between displaying blank screen or displaying messages after the update.

I'm running PM on my Samsung Galaxy S (stock Android 2.1). It works very well in general. Just once I had a problem: it crashed and when I reopened PM, my accounts where gone. Luckily, I still had my profimail.settings file (from transferring PM from N97 tot SGS). And after loading profimail.settings, it did not have to dowload the emails again, they were automatically found back :?

Other than that, I'm very happy with PM on Android, much more sophisticated than the standard email app. And even though the looks are a bit outdated, it's also fun to have this retro-look on my phone :o

Hi,

I'm running PM on my Galaxy S on Froyo since yesterday am I'm really impressed!!! the fastest and best AppMail I ever used. I already used it on my SonyEricsson Symbian Phone P1 ;-)
Better than K9 and Maildroid.

:!: I just figured out one issue: When I compose an email and go to "Add recipient", I can only Access to the Google Contacs. As I don't sync my contacts with google, I would really appreciate, that the app also has access to my phone contacts. I only can access to the phone contacts on the main screen using "Menu-Tools-Adress Book", but not while composing an email

I hope that this is possible, as I'm writing lots of mails on the road.

Thanks in advance and continue this great work for the final release!!

I too have experienced this. At least twice I go into PM and it tells me that I have no accounts configured.

On 3.28, it works just fine.

Profimail 3.30 installed to HTC Desire 2.1

Imported accounts from Nokia e71 and transferred license between devices.

All seems to work OK with initial testing however when typing into the recipient address field there are no entries extracted from the phone contacts and provided in a drop down list for selection.

Is this working for others, or something not yet implemented?

Thanks

installed latest 3.3 on galaxy 3 eclair 2.1
sucessfully imported settings from i8910 symbian
a few issues

1. had font size +1... screwed up till i lowered
2. had old default sound.. no sound working.. when i tried to change the app freezes and has to be killed..
cannot get rid of old sounds.. it eventually did come back after about 5 minutes.. need to put up a message to wait.. (in fact it takes so long the android pops up something saying it is not responding) .. maybe instead of going through all memory let us navigate to sounds and pick?

apparently it is going through all of memory and sd card and getting all sound files.. it isn't even going through external sd.. another issue..
you need to support extenal sd on galaxy s which i /sdcard/sd and someting different in froyo.
also suppot external sd for storage location!!!!

3. as someone mentioned we do need a +1 size.. buttons are small on large galaxy s screen.

4. successfully transfered my license thanks.

5. missing the color scheme that i used on symbian.. (not all are supported?).. maybe option to set colors yourself in future..

overall it is fast fetching email as symbian version was (even faster with galaxy 1ghz processor) but scrolling through lists of emails etc. is still fairly slow and work needs to be done here.

other issues i dont use push email.. so not a bigee to me.. but it doesnt appear like profimail is fully integrated into the android os.. case in point: look at the app autostarts that lets you control which apps are fired off by which events.. most email apps get fired off at startup and when connectivity changes etc... With my previous email app on android k9mail.. i had to continually go in and remove thse settings since i dont use push email and dont want it starting up by itself.. but this may be some of the issues other are having with it not fetching mail at regular intervals.

:!: Another thing noted - when typing messages there is no autocorrect/spelling occurring with the keyboard (whereas in the native mail app (and e.g. for SMS messages) I do see that feature.

This is maybe an issue with profimail not integrating with the HTC Sense UI that is sitting on top of Android?

Successfully transfered my nokia E90 licence to my samsung SGS
Been waiting this for ages, thanks !
I'm running Froyo (JPK) on international version of Samsung Galaxy S
I'm running PM 3.30
I'm also love the IMAP IDLE feature I was loving on symbian
But it seems not working; it connects then tells me "Connection closed by server"
- Works fine over Wifi but 2G or 3G, always fails
And requires user intervention to reconnect; I don't get it
I think it would be nice to use on-device web rendering engine if possible
Or at least provide pinch-zoom functionnality
when using "Share|Profimail" from another application, it seems to crash
Prove a "more joy" UI - I mean ... little more friendly ... well android'ich ;-)
This is being too much symbian'ich :-D
Good side : bloody fast !
Provide "save-as" feature
Can't wait coming updates

Hello here
I would be a great thing if you could at least provide an update that does not require user intervention to reconnect when network lost
I can not test the application further since it keeps loosing connection
Is that possible
Thanks!

It does not work !

PM does count always from 30min to 1min, than again from 30min to 1min, but now its 7pm, and time from the last mailchecking says 3.20pm.
So since 3.20pm no mailchecking.

Samsung galaxy s / froyo jpm

still works fine over wifi though

one more thing, I'm also testing k-9 mail for android which implements imap idle too and am having no issue at all
which makes me beleive this is software related

I'm sorry, I take my words back;

K-9 mail has the same issue : imap idle does not work on samsung galaxy s
which looks like a device specific issue

thanks

this is very strange

the notification icon tells me I'm not connected

but somehow I get a notification on new mails

much later after native apps - I set IMAP IDLE to 15min; it looks like
I got the notification at the time PM sends it's IMAP IDLE "ping"

- I'm running 2.2 Froyo; not 2.1 Eclair

=> LonelyCat, should I lower IMAP IDLE ping time ?

If your server has push then disable IDLE time.

hi,

thanks for the advice,

I find myself unable to disable IDLe ping time - Sorry if I missed it from setup menus
In the "Edit account" window, I can only check/uncheck "Use Push email"
And specify an IDLE ping time, no way to disable this

I'm might be missing something ?

Thank you
