We're pleased to offer ProfiMail for Android for public testing.

The testing is finished now, and official version 3.35 is available for download.

Fixes 2010-09-19:
Kinetic scroll in Config, Fixed Share link crash, Fixed alert sound change, Fixed crashes (black screen) on some Android 2.2 phones

Fixes 2010-09-24:
Fixed password text entry, Improved background mail check, fixed LED light, new IMAP folder icons, other fixes

Fixes 2010-09-28: Stability fixes, improved Attachment bar

Fixes 2010-10-16: Fixed scheduled time updating, other fixes

Fixes 2010-10-18 / 2010-10-19: Enabled haptic feedback, other small fixes

2010-10-25: Using Android graphics, other fixes

2010-10-26: Enabled auto-completion and predictive text in editors, other work on User Interface

2010-10-27: Improved touchable scrollbars, connect/disconnect button on main screen, other fixes

2010-11-03: Compatibility fixes, real image thumbnails in attachments, other fixes

2010-11-08: Final version 3.35 released

Details on this version:
This is normal ProfiMail as on other platforms, with 30 days trial mode, which can be purchased and unlocked (although we don't have special Android buy link yet, so if you really want to buy it now, put Symbian version to shopping card and use IMEI of your Android phone to continue in purchase). You can also transfer your license from other platform to Android using Support link on LCG website.
But ideally you use it in trial mode and wait until we finish testing and officially release Android version for sale.

What to test and report:
Please concentrate on Android specific bugs and problems, and don't report general feature requests (we have lots of these in other threads).

Sending report in case of crash or FC (force close):
Report version that you use, and send us log file as written here. Such log file will help us a lot. Send to infoImagelonelycatgames.com

How to install. There're several possibilities:
1) Transfer APK file to your Android phone over Bluetooth. Then expand system bar and click on received Bluetooth file to install it.
2) Transfer APK file to your Android phone's memory card in USB mode. Connect phone in USB mode so that memory card appears as drive on PC. Then copy APK to memory card. Disconnect Android phone from PC. Then start File manager on Android phone (may be called "My files"), find the APK file on memory card, and click on it to install it.

Great stuff, after 8 months with slow or non working IMAP clients (N900 followed by Android stock email...) I finally have Profimail back! Had it on E71 and more than happy to buy it again :-)

Works great so far, fast and efficient, and overall it seems to be pretty stable. Some issues I have noticed, using it on a Galaxy S:

* With the Swype soft keyboard, backspace does not work in password fields. I switched to the Samsung soft keyboard and it worked. However, I noticed that a single backspace removed the whole password, I'm guessing the field is subclassed to make it behave different which might cause the problem? (Swype backspace also has problems in ConnectBot program, so it does work differently than stock keyboard I think...)

:!: * When try to open address book from Tools/Address Book menu the program hangs and I get a "Force Close" message. Reproducable every time, however Profimail works fine when reopened, and creating emails the address lookup works fine.

* Does not seem to be kinetic scroll when edit account configuration? In general configuration it does scroll.

A couple of things that would be nice to have:

* Option to lose the onscreen menu back buttons, it is just duplicating standard buttons on all Android phones, so just waste screen space.

* Option to only show alerts in the notification tray, rather than always showing the Profimail icon when it is in the background... takes up space for other incoming alerts.

Other than these small issues it really works great and it is good to be back :-)

[edit]Just to clarify, I run Android 2.1, as supplied on Galaxy S, not rooted[/edit]

It´s working fine here. Samsung Galaxy S, Froyo 2.2, JPH.

Files/Folders explorer is visible and it can navigate me to attach documents. Please fix this for Jukebox and X-Plore.

I have my private Gmail account (POP3) and my business mail account set. I don´t use M Exchange Server and I dont know about it.

Hey guys,

it's like I thought.
PM will be the best Mail-Client on Android.
There are some small fixes to do.
:!: I had a FC when I tried to change the alarm in PM, and I had a FC when I tried to access the Phonebook out of PM.
Maybe you can work a little bit on the buttons to make the look smoother.
:?: What I miss is an option to have a sign in the notification bar when a new Mail arrives instead of having the PM-sign in there all the time.

But I have one real bad problem. On my mailaccount at DomainFactory in the Sent-Box it only shows the sender than the name of the person who receives the mail.
With GMX I don't have this problem.
Maybe you can give us one more option to change this.

I'm using a Galaxy SGS with Android 2.1.

All in all, you did a real good job.

Cheers,
Dirk

It was all going really well but I now have a big issue. I had it all set up properly and went to export the settings, I tilted the phone to check the date on my watch, when it asked me to choose a file name and it bombed out. Now when I start it it says "Error! STORE document has been deleted." I have tried to reinstall it but it won't work now. Sorry. It looked pretty good too. Also FC'ed when I tried to change ringtone.

Edit: Using Nexus One Froyo.

Edit 2: I deleted the account and managed to import the settings again, this corrected the issue, although I had to download all my messages again.

The ringtone just doesn't work at all on my N1. It vibrates but FC's when you try to change it.

Edit 3: Sorry, ringtone is working (had phone on silent lol), but still cannot change it without it force closing.

A plus point though, it works better than any other Android mail client and integrates well with the Slide It keyboard.

Profimail seems to work perfectly so far!
Only problem I have, is that it doesn't seem to work with my hotmail.se-account. Hotmail.com works fine, with pop3.live.com, but I don't know what to use for hotmail.se-adresses (swedish-se). Anyone?

Cheers, Henrik

:!: I've problem insert address from phonebook to send, PM forced close everytime, the same problem when insert address manually, unless the address is very short, so I have to use the default mail app to send, receiving no problem.
:!: Also want to auto run PM on phone start, it is a non rooted Legend, how to do it ?

Just want to say, I've switched from using the Symbian version to the Android version and Profimail feels fantastic and works brilliantly.

Just a couple of points on the UI:

- Don't need the minimise and full screen icons in the top right hand corner (they could only really be used with a stylus on a symbian touch device anyway)

- Make the scroll bar much much thinner, it will open up the screen space. We can scroll with our fingers on Android !!

- Generally make the UI look 'nicer' to fit in with the Android look

Other than that fantastic. Thanks.

I have noticed something that needs to be sorted out:
:!: When writing an email, the keyboard shows the 'Done' key for 'TO:', 'CC:', 'BCC:' and 'SUBJECT:' but it disappears when writing the main body of the email. This means the email cannot be completed without clicking on one of the above TO:', 'CC:', 'BCC:' and 'SUBJECT:' - this brings up the 'Done' key again.

Another feature should be the ability to contact LCG through the program itself.

Like I've also seen.
I also have a problem with the Trash-Folder on my DomainFactory-Account.
I want to delete a mail and it tells me, that it can not be put in the Trashfolder because it doesn't exist.
I sure have a Trashfolder and I named it right in PM like its name is on my webmail at DomainFactory.
Like it is with the Sentfolder it worked on the Symbianclient and it worked on everey other Mailclient on Android I had before.

I really don't know what problem PM has with the DomainFactory-Accounts but it seems to be one.

Maybe you can fix it.

I'd appreciate it.

Cheers,
Dirk

Sorry folks,

I found my error.
I forgot to tell PM the main-folder "Inbox".
After I did this, PM knows the trash-folder.

The problems I still have are, that I cannot open the phonebook out of PM with the small button on the main-screen. This gives me a fc.
It works when I doubleclick the "To"-Row.

Second is, I still don't see who received my mails in the sent-folder. It still shows me my name as sender.

I already have the newest version.

Cheers,
Dirk

Loving the app so far. Very glad to have profimail on android and it seems really stable.

Minor notes:
* When entering email server names (SwiftKey keyboard if that matters) after each period it is automatically adding a space and while passwords are masked it shows what I have typed in the swiftkey suggestions. It seems like the fields are misidentified.
* I can't set it as the default email app. When the menu pops up to select default email gmail and k9 are my only options.

Where is this setting possible on Android?

Thats real easy.
Go to your phonebook, take an adress with an e-mail and try to write one.
A window will apear where it asks you with wich programm you want to write the mail.
Check the field below to set the program as default and choose PM.
Thats it.
Now PM is you default mail client.

This works only when no other mail client than the android one is set to default.

Cheers,
Dirk

Actually it looks like there are two ways to do this:

When I go to "contacts" and click on "email" it pops up with a list of email programs that you can make default, profimail is on that list.

When you click on a "mailto:" link on the web, it pops up with a box that says "complete action using" and profimail is not on the list.

Thanks LCG. It seems very robust and better than the Symbian version. Was wondering if you had any plans for improving the UI in the future and if you are planning on implementing any new features? The UI looks particularly clunky on an Android phone as the UI is much more modern than the stone aged Nokia Symbian UI.

I have one or two small cosmetic suggestions:

1) Could you make a black and grey colour scheme to help match the Android UI. Perhaps using the same fonts as the option to use system fonts seems to not work correctly? Perhaps they are just larger font sizes or something, but it doesn't seen to match the Android UI font.

2) Can you add the big emerging scroll bar button like the Android one when you scroll up and down through the contacts?

3) Can you redesign the attachment box at the bottom of the mail as it is to small for touch screen.

 4) Could you add a long press to the top of the mail, where the senders name is to reveal who is copied on the mail? It is a bit long winded to keep checking this through the menu.

:!: One last couple of things I would like other Android users to check; my phone (Nexus One Froyo) seems to slow down a lot around the time it is going to send and receive. Is this just mine?

I think that Profimail isn't checking mail whilst the screen is off, intermittently, using 2G and 3G. Again, is this just mine?

Thanks!

Transferred my licence to android and using profimail on a Samsung Galaxy S:

- Please add the possibility to increase the font size to more than 0. Font is pretty small on the Galaxy S's display.
 - I don't know many other Android devices, but I think that they all have a menu and a back key, so the menu and back/hide icons in the display are pretty useless.
 - selecting a notification sound: Most android apps open a ppup where you can choose between system sounds or own music/ sounds. Would be fine to include this selection in profimail because it's kind of annoying when you have to browse through your whole music library which in my case are 2000+ files.
 - tapping on the notification should get you straight to the inbox of the most recent unread mail, maybe make this selectable in the tweaks menu
 - preview of the subject line in the notification would be fine, like provided by the original gmail app

Aside from that I (still) love profimail, it's really been time for a thought through email app on android!

Edit: And - not to be forgotten: please add widgets in different sizes!

The switching issue might be a firmware bug. Afaik the release firmware of the Galaxy S had the problem that the data connection did not reconnect after switching from 2G/3G to WiFi and vice versa. This had been solved in a firmware update.

Excuse my English but I am Italian.
Installed on Galaxy S i9000 Android 2.1.
PM instead of K9 and Maildroid is exactly what I was looking for: fast
synchronize accounts.!!!!!!!

In my opinion missing in this version:
1) Ability to have different timing periods of syncro for each account.
2) Filter for Synchronization silent night (like on Maildroid)
3) slightly larger keys
:!: 4) The program crashes on touch key of contacts

For the rest really compliments. The best seen so far !!!!

:!: The program seems to be crashing on me a lot in the background. I have one account setup with IMAP to check every 5 minutes. I've tried it with and without push and it still seems to crash a lot.

Go into the settings and look for "work times". Profimail has done what you are asking for years.

Mine is doing the same too, also not checking mail on both wireless nor 2G/3G now at the interval times, intermittently. Keep coming back to the phone, hitting Profimail icon and it either starts up and checks mail or I refresh and find mail on the server has not been pulled down.

Not sure if this is the same for push/idle as our server doesn't support it.

Still also getting the slowing down issue when sending and receiving in the background, and this may be linked to the above issue of the program switching off. I am sure Android closes programs if it needs to free up memory.

No.
1) For example: Account "A" syncro every 30 minutes. Account "B" syncro every 180 minutes. Account "C" syncro every 240 minutes.....
In this version syncro time is the same for every account.
2) I have seen "Work Time". But what i want is Silent Syncro during night time. It's different.

Another request: It's possible to have signature field longer than one line?
