There's new experiment that we'll do, we'll call it ProfiMail Tweaks.

Some users occasionally request little changes or configurations of ProfiMail's behavior, which technically could be added, but we don't consider them to be worth of officially supported (this means being officially announced, be in Manual, and localized). So we'll play with idea of special tweaks to ProfiMail's behavior.

These tweaks will NOT be new features, they're rather changes or settings of little details for what already works. For example, whether to show new mail notification on home screen or not (it's always enabled now).

These tweaks will be in separate configuration section, will not be localized, and may be anytime removed if they don't fit to concept. So they're not guaranteed features, they're rather bonus. However, if some tweak looks really useful, it can make it into official feature.

Now these tweaks are in official version since 3.11.

This thread is created for users' requests of more little tweaks that could be added there. No new features, just tweaks.

sounds great! =D> \:D/
one question: how do i know what changed?

thanks so much for this great support,

max

p.s.: my request: i'd love to have a setting that makes ProfiMail showing me the overview on all accounts (instead of the last screen before hiding ProfiMail like it's now) every time i re-open the application.

By re-open you mean bringing it to foreground? And PM should switch to accounts view from whatever screen it is..?

Impressive!
Works On E50.
Both tweaks works perfect.

On N70,the configuration appears as shown below

Image

Image

Its highly unstable on second edition phones.
Tab titles are missing.
'OK' appear on top of every tab,and when i switch in between tabs under configuration, application exits on its own.

Hope this will be fixed.

I would like the following options under tweaks.

-Email displayed using a single line(only the name of render) and double line(the way it is now). This'll help in fitting more number of emails on the screen.
In single line mode, when the email is highlighted, only that email should expand to two lines showing the subject(the way it is now),rest all emails fitting in one single line.
It would be awesome to have this tweak.

-An option to re download the same version.Helpful when there are small fixes.

I want the developers to make use of the left selection key under configuration.
It should have menu>open/back.

At present, its not being used at all.
Right selection key is 'Back' by default, thats fine.Left selection key is blank as of now.
Reason why I want this is because the central joystick key is crucial for the phone. It's used the maximum number of times.
By having left selection key working as an alternate would reduce the load on it.Central key is delicate.
Almost all other applications make use of the left selection key for opening tabs, though it'll require two key press as compared to one while using the central key.
Can this be considered?

Sunil

I guess I'm not quite understanding this. By tweaks do you mean features which are already in ProfiMail and you are looking for suggestions to improve upon those features?

That's very much it.. :?
I exit ProfiMail by pressing the red button, normally after having read new incoming mails. (if I'd close PM by selecting "exit", mail updates wouldn't be made, would they?)
When I bring PM to foreground the next time, the read mail appears. I have to go back from mail to inbox and from inbox to account overview to read new emails of another account.

hope, you understand..

Something to display or hide, something to move, enlarge, shrink, and similar things.

This makes some conflicts:
- if you're writing new mail, it can't be closed automatically
- if you're looking at image, reading document, browse address book, or just read mail, and PM loses focus (someone calls you, or you switch to other app just for while), you get away from what you just did
This may be confusing.

The option (on or off) to go directly into my inbox. One click. By going into my inbox I mean show me the messages.

Ok, but how or when would be folders displayed?

Mail box Root folder could be listed above the inbox.

Right now we click ProfiMail. It lists the mail boxes. We click the mail box, then inbox.

In the method I suggested above by ticking an option to display inbox when opening ProfiMail. That inbox root folder would be listed above. Other mail boxes would also be listed, so it would be like a tree.

XX yahoo
-inbox
-sent
-drafts
-trash

XX gmail
-inbox
-sent
-drafts
-trash

My little tweak-request: an option to decide whether the cursor is above or below the original email while answering it (after pressing "R").

You mean replying below original text instead of above? Just a note, this includes also possible automatic signature being at bottom.

Yes, I mean replying below the original text instead of above. And the signature should be at the bottom, of course.

This Profimail version crashes when I scroll down through the configuration options and the skin field appears. The same when I scroll up from the top (to wrap around to the bottom).
I have an SE P1i with UIQ.

Exactly the same problem on Symbian S60 Second edition phones.
Btw this version never had an UIQ version.
It had UIQ 3.0.

Thanks for fixing the crash.

I'm yet to test the plain text tweak.Tested the reply tweak and it works perfect.

Few concerns.

On profimail home screen, left selection key have been mapped to exit/hide.Was it intentional?
I believe it would have been better if you could've mapped it to Account Settings.
Right selection key have been mapped perfectly.

Last few words of the description of the tab 'Preview size' on N70 doesn't appear(description doesn't fit into four lines allotted with ui font size zero and not using system's font).

PS: The thread title should be changed as and when new tweaks are added.

Sunil

Nice that plaintext option, can you also consider the "show onlynew enveloppes in overview screen" With overview screen i mean where you can see all the accounts.

Can the tweaks that are added be listed when new versions are released?

Yes,but if there's a tweak which wasn't found that useful then it would be dropped.
So better participate in the Tweak testing and support the tweaks you would want to have in Profimail.

would it be possible to add the "Ask to exit" option to the tweaks so we can disable it
this way ProfiMail will exit by clicking 1 button instead of also having to confirm it

small tweak but very usefull to me :)
thanks in advance!!

You have to confirm it when you want to exit ProfiMail? I don't have to confirm it.
