Microsoft Exchange support is a pré (2003 and/or 2007). Mail for Exchange works okay on exchange-servers but can't, for instance, show any sub-folders.

ProfiMail (Profi-Mail .. what is in the name?? :) ) - should be able to connect to Exchange Servers' inbox, it's subfolders, contacts and calender.

Thanks,
N.

Mail folder encryption + passwords file encryption! Not an application password.

An honest algorithm (Rijndael/AES/Twofish.. well at least Blowfish) and no passwords/hashes stored in the open. A block of encrypted data (say, the passwords file) is decrypted with an entered password, then a hash value of the decrypted data is tested. If the check passes, the password is considered correct and all the data is being encrypted/decrypted on the fly using this password.

Well, basically see how TrueCrypt does it, it's even *gasp* opensource :)

This is about the only feature (or, rather, lack thereof) which puts me off wanting to use ProfiMail.

As far as I'm aware there are NO subfolders in the POP3 standard, are they? If you own a POP3 account and you have several folders then they are created from the Webfrontend or locally by your email application, e.g. Outlook.

On my Nokia 5800, I often find that I accidentally delete text while composing a message. I think this is caused by having some text selected before tapping in the message window to invoke the 'keyboard'. The selected text is replaced by whatever I type. It is not possible to reverse this.

At this point, it would be really useful to be able to undo the typing, particularly if I have managed to wipe out most of what I have spent the last half hour typing.

If I then press 'Back', I am given the option to save, upload or delete the draft. It would be good to have another option, to cancel the editing but keep the previous draft.

I don't know if this is asking for too much but in another thread, BTW an old one, someone was asking for the possibility of using an address book other than the system phone book. Actually I second that. Thinking from a standpoint of someone using ProfiMail as a client for personal email and also for work email here is what I think:

- I don't want to mix work clients and suppliers on my phone book, it's illogical from a practical point of view. I need to email once in a while hundreds of people about work but I don't want to add them to my phone global list, I think this sounds logical right? I don't even have their phone numbers. So maybe a "secondary" address book would do the trick! Now, I add the word "WORK - " before each contact I need to email but this doesn't sound like the best approach, so it would be very nice to have a way to separate entries that would only be available for Profimail;
- If the above option is possible an import tool for this secondary list would be a must;
- I will also add my name to the list of people in need for mailing groups.

Thanks a lot, this e-mail client is really good, the best around, but still missing a few things to make me and maybe others absolutely happy with it!!

Cheers,

Jay

Per-folder setting for "get full message"

The idea being that deleted items, sent items, and some folders can probably get away with being "headers only".

The ability to chose the context-senstive options available from a press-and-hold menu -
or at least add some of the "mark message as unread" and "set message flag" style options.

The option for "purge IMAP deleted items" should be set per-account, not globally.

Also "forward" and "reply-all" - I use reply-all much more than a simple Reply.

Please make the touch-interface icons for "hide" and "maximise/restore" (in the top right-hand corner) bigger?
There is no way I can use these with my fingers (or even fingernails!) - I have to grab a pen/paper-clip/car key to be ble to select them.

This one might be a bit trickier, but some of the logic already exists :D

An option to go "full-screen" when switching to landscape orientation.

On my N97, I have full-screen set off when in portrait mode as the screen is tall enough - i.e checking new messages, folder operations etc.
However, when switching to landscape (ie to type a reply on the qwerty keyboard) I need full-screen, otherwise the screen is far too narrow (only three lines of text).

It would be FANTASTIC to have this happen automatically, especially given my previous suggestion (bigger icons for maximise/restore)

Option "Download max. KB" or "Download small" as a account option/advanded setting for IMAP too.

Using a rule is not an option for me as I want to use (other/move) rules.

Full Notifications (sound/vibration, LED, "popup" in standby-screen/"desktop") also
when a message is moved by a rule.

To not break the old design*, I see two ways how this could be implemented:
  • a tweak/global setting "notify also if mails are moved" (prefered)
  • implement a new rule action "move to folder and notify"

* Every (PC) mailclient I used until now does notify also if a message is moved by a rule.

Download message and not only headers* also if a mail is moved
to another folder by a rule.

* in dependency of the settings "Get entire message" etc.

mobileways.de Gravity http://mobileways.de/products/gravity/gravity/ has shown the way for Symbian developers, so far as a full-screen UI is concerned. The "Dashboard" and other features in their version 1.30 (Build 6300) UI is insanely useful on my Nokia E71.

"Full screen," particularly on the screens for viewing and composing messages, should not have to allocate permanent space to menus at the bottom of the screen. Those menus can be made to pop up, when needed. And, what's with the "Compose Message" title, when I'm composing a message? I don't need that.

So far as UI design is concerned, the folks at mobileways have really thrown the gauntlet down. Personally, I think the gang at Lonely Cat Games is uniquely qualified to bring to Symbian messaging applications some of the concepts in the Gravity Twitter application.

Please add another altenative access point. So there will be 2 alternative access points.

Sometimes Im at home (WIFI), office(WIFI) or other place (using GPRS).
If im home, i keep on switching main alternative from Office to Home. Switching back main access point to Office when im office.

thanks

Newer Symbian phones have built-in network destinations, where you configure any number of access points.
ProfiMail can use them, these destinations are listed with * in front of name. Use a destination, and you'll have group of access points in ProfiMail.

Spam-filtering is great with Profimail. I even use it to filter the spam in the mailbox of my (small) office.

The only thing I can not filter are mails in different signs or characters.. (like Chinese.. hope you understand)..

A spam-filter which filters different signs or characters than the none standard would be great..

Thank you..

ProfiMail doesn't have built-in spam filtering, it only uses special flags set by your mail server (SpamAssassin system), and by these flags it can assume that message is spam.
You should update spam filtering on your mail server to suit your needs.
