Post subject: Features we'd like to see in the next update.

Great program, I bought it RIGHT away upon discovering it. There are a couple things that could be done to make the program more usable:

1: The connection error dialog should go away right away, by itself and it should continue to keep trying to connect. As it stands the phone will occasionaly have a problem connecting, say when you go into an elevator, and then it will stop working until you open the phone and tell the dialog to go away.

It would be nice too, if it would be posible to syncronize the mailbox with the mail programme on the desktop pc.

Post subject: Configuration options PER ACCOUNT
PostPosted: Fri Jul 29, 2005 3:32 pm

For the series 80 - specifically Nokia 9500

Better account configuration features is an absolute must. This needs to be configurable on a PER ACCOUNT basis. The current method of one setting for all accounts is too limiting for people who have more than one email account. It would be nice if it could try one connection (GPRS), then the next (WiFi, or GSM), and if none work, automatically re-try later. It will currently put up an error message and not try at all until I manually clear it - NOT good.

Improved scheduling would also be a HUGE plus. Some of my accounts (I use 5 regularly) need to only be checked a few times a day, and some of them I would like to check every 5 minutes. Allowing this to be configured (again) on a per account basis would allow much more flexibility than currently possible.

In all truth, I bought Profimail, Smart movie, and UltraMP3 all at once. I really dont use any of them but Smart Movie despite the fact that I love Profimail, but it is just not flexible enough to do what I need right now. Making these changes to allow accounts to be individually configurable with regards to connection and schedules would make it absolutely perfect for my uses, and I would imagine alot of other people would find it very useful as well.

 Post subject: Support IMAP IDLE

I'd like to see you support IMAP Idle similar to the Email Chatter program for mail. This would provide for a semi push functionality in email.

PostPosted: Wed Aug 03, 2005 11:22 pm

Hi seems there are some lack feature on viewing and editing email, for long email it's better that profimail can incorporate go to top and bottom beside page up and page down, like vieweing an digest from mailing list which 1 mail can have size as big as 45 KB characters only, scrolling up and down to page up and page down make user irritating...

Also on edit window, since profi always cite all then when reply an digest and we need to remove unnecessary portion then I need to hold pencil key and scroll down then press c, hope profimail can provide better way.

 Post subject: Better WM5 support?
PostPosted: Fri Nov 25, 2005 2:00 am

This is hands down one of the fastest programs out there and I just love the layout...

For WM5 it'd be nice to have

1. SoftButton intergration (left and right)

2. minimize feature

3. a Today Screen Plugin would be simply amazing.

I think a lot of users of the new ppc-6700 would be all over this program with those features.

1) reply-to address support
2) when you click a header, option to confirm before downloading the whole message , the dialog should show the full subject as well.

otherwise this looks very promising and I will probably follow up with a purchase.

Request for S60 version:

Several people have mentioned vibration as an alternate to the audible alert. I think an even better option, if its possible, is to activate the system's "Email alert tone". That way, whatever profile you have selected for the phone, carries through to the email alert. For example, when I'm in a meeting, I like a quiet single "beep", but when I'm in a noisy environment, I want the full volume alert tone AND vibration which are easy to set up in profiles.

Good idea. Unfortunately Symbian doesn't allow programatically reading user's preferences, or determine sound of particular profile.

I am running the UIQ client on a SE P910a.

* Buttons for menu, connect, and other UI control elements should be bigger. This will allow for use of fingertips, which is very common, without requiring a stylus for simple operations.

* Back-nudge on the trackwheel shouldn't drop me down to the Applications application. I think it should behave like the "Back" menu item in the Application. If I really want to back all the way out, I'll hold back-nudge and exit out.

Hi, I have two suggestions. At least the first appeared already, but I will emphasise it.

1. Vary polling interval by time of day. Take a look how VoqMail's polling works - three polling intervals based on time of day/week, plus (unless disabled) polling interval automatically increases for a limited time after sending an email to check for the reply.

HOWEVER, I also agree that polling is completely useless if it drains the battery on S60.

2. Handle IMAP sub-folders better. I have literally a hundred folders (a lot of them archiving stuff by month) and it is annoying to hide them all one-by-one. The option of a tree view would be nice.

 Post subject: Possible Changes
PostPosted: Fri May 26, 2006 6:24 am

First...I've loaded 6 other email programs in the past two weeks. This one is by far the most straight forward and effecient one of them all. It's paid for! :-)

I'm using it on a Palm 700W with a 240x240 screen. Interface is great for something that size, esp. the use of ClearType.

Would like to see the install change the default mail hooks to point to ProfiMail instead of pocket outlook, including the hardware buttons and the installation of the Icon on the drop down menu.

Thanks!

- Richard

Post subject: Great product, a few suggestions...
PostPosted: Mon Jun 26, 2006 12:40 pm

I recently picked up a Nokia E61 and the phone is great but the e-Mail client isn't great for IMAP (it works but it tries to be too pretty, and is slow and clunky). Frustrated, I looked around for alternates and this last weekend (June 24) I picked up Profimal, and I really like it, but there are a few trouble spots I would like you to address in a future release:

- IMAP folders: I have a lot of folders and I would like to subscribe to only a few. I could hide everything one-by-one but it would be nicer if I could just choose the folders I want to subscribe to rather than have to go through the process of hiding many folders so only the three I want show up.

- Folders and sub folders: This may be an IMAP server issue, but I use Courier IMAP and it separates elements in its folder path with a '.' so my paths in the folders window show up as "INBOX.FolderA.FolderB" (When I specified that my root folder was "INBOX" then my folders looks like ".FolderA.FolderB"). I'm thinking that this really isn't a good way to display folders and sub-folders. Instead you should automatically parse the appropriate "path separator" (perhaps user configurable) and nest the folder display.

- External browser support: My E61 has a decent HTML browser, I would like to use it to view Web pages instead of the built-in browser that comes with Profimail. This should be a configurable option. Also, the "link parser" occasionally breaks as with this example:

http://www.forum.nokia.com/main/0,6566, ... 1265429217

This is one of the reasons why selection/cut/copy/paste is so important, in addition to opening a link in an external browser.

- Spell check: Would be really nice. Especially one of those check-as-you-type kinds of spell checkers.

- Integration with contacts and calendars: Your application can integrate with the built-in contacts and add sender information to contacts but what if the sender information is an attached vCard? As far as I can tell you have no support for this. Also, vCard files can contain one or more vCards. Support for this would be great. Also integrating with the built-in calendar when attachments that meet the iCalendar specification (iCal files have a .vcs or .ics extension) is highly desired.

Again, thanks for a great product and I hope to see these features in a future version.

I would just like to agree with others in restating a few points on the E61.

2. Support for the email hard key to launch Profimail instead of the standard email client

4. Variable polling intervals during different times of day

AND, this may be a new one...

5. The ability to Auto Check different email accounts at DIFFERENT intervals. eg: account A is checked every 5 minutes, while account B is checked every 6 hours

Here's my wish list:

- "undo" function in the message editor (you won't believe how often I hit the backspace key instead of the Enter key)

- display clock and connection status

- easy way for selecting a different sender while composing a message (see the Virtual Identity extension for Thunderbird)

- don't store the IMAP/POP password on disk (ie, ask when connecting)

- change the wording of "This demo version has limitations in usage time" to reflect the real limitation (transferred volume?)

More wishes:

- encrypt downloaded bodies (this is important when accessing company-internal mail over VPN)

- add shortcut for "reply to all"

- make the size of the preview area configurable

My wish list is simple (I'm using Nokia E61):

- everything was said before ;-)
- I'm missing the option to delete e-mail on server and in device (not to hide) when using IMAP
- and if possible, option to detect actual connection, I'm using mobile internet on the road, at work WiFi connection and always selecting the connection is "disfunctionaling" autoupdate (but maybe it's misconfiguration of my device)...

EDIT: One thing I've forgot - when the e-mails are listed, display the time when they were sent, please! Date is cool, but adding time would be more useful.

Thank you.

Now that the soft button lablels work properly on the E70 (thanks!) my list (not necessarily in priority order) is:

1) ability to copy text (pen-copy or ctrl-C) from an email while reading it (at present one has to "reply", copy the text, then discard the reply);

2) IMAP IDLE;

4) signal strength and type (ie, GPRS or 3G/UMTS) indicator visible;

5) ability to save a complete message as a text file at a location of my choosing.

The rationale for the last one might require some explanation.

I sometimes want to transfer an email to my (laptop) PC in cases where the PC has no internet connection, so I can't just download it again from the IMAP server, and my mobile contract doesn't permit using the phone as a modem for the PC. I can't copy directly from ProfiMail's mail folder because the app is installed in phone memory. I really don't want it installed on the card, and in any case rather not have to mess around with card readers or mass-storage mode.
