this problem happens when i edit certain system files with built-in text editor, like startup script files in /system/etc/init.d.

after saving the file, i can't edit the file again. long press on the file of course brings a popup menu, but (unlike before saving the file) Edit text menu DOES NOT APPEAR. of course i can rename the file and put .txt extension, then x-plore recognizes the file as text and text editor menu reappears, but after removing the .txt extension text editor option is again removed from the popup menu.

thanks.

found the reason.

when i edit a system text file, for some reason that file's permission is forced to 666.
originally the file had 755. this permission change prevented me from further editing the file.
after re-setting the permission to 755, and restarting x-plore, i could see 'text editor' option in the menu again.

maybe this could be a bug in x-plore - i don't know but i'd be grateful if you could investigate.
