Then search your PC for file vsfilter.dll, and rename or delete this.

vsfilter.dll is for Subtitles, it is known to crash (old version), and moreover, subtitles are included directly in modern codecs such as ffdshow. So this dll is not needed.

For users who want to add subtitles on converted files no solutions? I'm using XP SP3 and K-Lite full 5.61.

1) ffdshow codec pack contains subtitles filter

2) anyway this is not needed for SmartMovie, because such filter draws subtitles to video, while SmartMovie adds text subtitles and draws them in SM player as text.

Thanks for locking my post but I've already seen this topic and mine is kind of a different...I tried it and I deleted the first problem file "vsfilter.dll"...no luck after that. I tried to delete the other few files that are said in the report but I can't...there's an error messege saying "You require permission from TrustedInstaller to make changes to this file" and I can't delete any of the files except vsfilter.dll . Apparently "TrustedInstaller" is the programer of the file and I don't have the rights to do anything with it. :(

...ok I found a way to delete qasf.dll and quartz.dll but I still can't delete the ntdll.dll file because it's used by "System" and I read it's a kernel file which shouldn't be deleted...I still can't open the converter :( Any suggestions?

vsfilter.dll was only file that you're supposed to deactivate or delete. Deleting other files can make your Windows nonfunctional.
What is your crash report now after deleting vsfilter.dll?

Well the report now is kind of the same as before...

Machine: 'racw', OS ver: 6.1 (build 7601) Service Pack 1
Memory: 3327 MB (used 30%)

DllCanUnloadNow, offset 0x2480b
DllCanUnloadNow, offset 0x2431b

DllRegisterServer, offset 0x3ea43
DllRegisterServer, offset 0x3e6a3
DllRegisterServer, offset 0x4464b
DllRegisterServer, offset 0x430a0

And yeah I've already found the first problem from deleting these files :) It's appeared when I wanted to check my Windows Experience Index and it said that the quartz.dll file is missing. But I'll repair that later.

I tried to open the converter after I deleted only the vsfilter.dll but it was again the same.

There must be another vsfilter.dll on your disk.

To load Sony msv and dvf files in Switch you will need to download and install the Sony Plugin for Windows Media Player. Once you have downloaded and run the plugin you should be able to open and play Sony files in Switch.
